The geographical location of the Izu Peninsula stands on the Philippine Sea Plate unlike any other. With that, Matsuzaki is one of the very few places in Japan that has soil conducive to growing tropical fruits like Green Papaya. The seedlings are first planted around spring, grown throughout the summer, and harvested before winter arrives.
The Mahorama Soap is one of the products made from Matsuzaki’s green papaya harvests. What was first thought to be something edible only, is surprisingly good for the skin too as the fruit contains an enzyme called Papain which promotes healthy and anti-aging skin.
